Comets prevailed over Ballers in a competitive shield final. The true stars of the game were Maria and Liv who brought the defensive intensity, which was turned swiftly into offence.

The Game

Comets started off well with several baskets to get things going on the offensive end. Things were looking up, and then Ballers showed their experience and determination. Ballers quickly took a lead in the second quarter with Coach Kala having to take a time-out to soothe the nerves of Comets.

The game went into half time with Ballers up by 10 points. It would have been easy to accept that the game was done but Comets said enough was enough! Strong defensive plays from both Liv and Maria, and perfectly executed fast break action, saw Comets take a small lead in the third.

Fourth quarter action saw more defensive pressure from Comets as Ballers became tired. With three minutes to go until the end of the game, Comets were up by five points. Neither team gave up and the battle was fought right to the end with Comets eventually prevailing and winning by seven points.

MVPs

MVPs weren’t chosen due to this game being a Shield Final. The real MVPs truly were the whole Comets team.
